So we need the entire world's available money, capital, energy and earth's entire resources in order to improve LLMs so that my daughter's cousin can keep talking to their imaginary 'friend'.

I can't wait until AI startups need to raise $100TN dollars for this important mission.

Judging from the recent news, it's also now so weirdos online can get an AI to make CSAM about your daughter's cousin. Fascinating twist.

What is xAI? Is it something serious such as what Anthropic did to coding? Can it compete with Google? I've tried Grok and seems farcical and useless for me at least, what am I missing?

It's much more than that, it's a mass population and politics control device thanks to Twitter. They can choose what everyone knows about the world and how they know it. Also, they have the ability to produce the thing that the people will know and limit competing ideas or contradicting information. Think of it as full censorship and full moderation of information flow that is automated by AI.

The upside is limitless.

True, people weren't just leaving snarky comments. Instead they were writing counter arguments etc. Total enshittification.

Yet they can't manage to let user delete the pictures that they uploaded into Grok, and then these pictures are automatically indexed on Google

"delete" and "upload" shouldn't be used in the same sentence in the context of social media. I mean, yeah you should be able to, but good luck with that on any platform tied to social media.

but it is not social media here, it is when you upload your personal picture on the image editor like on AI Studio @ Google, nowhere it says it will be shared publicly
