Those new "free" API credits are another nudge towards getting people away from subscriptions imo.

Bet there's some Amazon Prime-y dark patterns in claiming them.

Ultra is replacing Max 20x, but only includes 10x usage. So this is just a barely obfuscated downgrade.

Instead of Mythos they should have called it Manna, for someday the subsidized dispensation from heaven shall end, and woe and gnashing of GPUs will befall us, and our children, and their offspring.-

Nope, it's a rename. The old name was inaccurate for weekly limits

Not a downgrade

It's actually an upgrade because 5h limits are gone. It's objectively better value

so 20x was only for 5hr but it was 10x weekly? that's nuts

Unless I am mistaken, it has been 10x of Pro weekly for a while with 20x being applied to the 5h limit, which now no longer exists.

Yup, but offer $200 in API credits instead of $100 as before.

Not a totally related comment, but I thought it would be interesting to share. Today I needed to get some work done in a hurry and my plan reached 5-hour limit. Since I needed to get it finished and it was just the finishing touches on the ongoing work, I decided to add $5 balance in extra credits (they are consumed at API rates). It took one prompt ("Continue.") and maybe 5 minute on Opus 5.5 xhigh to burn through it without finishing what I needed. I added $10 more and asked to continue - a few more minutes and that was gone too. Thankfully, by that time it was nearly done so I decided against burning any more cash.

API rates are like setting money on fire, crazy, no wonder they are profitable.
