> Lula’s campaign argues that accounts and advertisements associated with Flávio Bolsonaro have reportedly received artificially inflated visibility, with engagement metrics rivaling those of global celebrities. The two are in a close race for the presidency, after the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro garnered 47% of the vote against 45% for the incumbent in the first round on Oct. 4.

> Lula’s complaint also claims there’s a stark disparity in Meta’s artificial intelligence tools, with users failing to generate campaign images related to the 80-year-old president via WhatsApp’s “Meta AI” feature, but being able to do so if they want to promote content in support of Flávio Bolsonaro.

In the US, Meta would have a First Amendment right to boost one political candidate's speech over another's, a Section 230 immunity to do the same, and a First Amendment right to discriminate in what its AI allows users to generate.

Meta is meddling with Brazilian elections

"Meddling" is too strong a word. This is essentially a routine judgement, a rather minor issue when you consider all the other stuff that's going on in this election. Lula is literally pulling out all the stops.
