How the fuck does anyone defend the internet advertising industry or think that blocking ads is anything but absolutely necessary baseline secure practice?

If all the advertising funded content had to disappear from the internet until the advertising industry shrunk to a size that it was able to manage without having the appearance and behavior of an apex predator, that could only be a good thing.

Let the tech giants _actually_ solve the hard problems of scaling advertising, within the same bounds of appropriate behavior that every other company has to adhere to.

I hope the some politicians in the, likely distant, future can have the integrity to see something like this through.
