But yeah it'll never be perfect. I imagine the grok bot will trigger an agentic pipeline which will have multiple layers of defence rather than just doing whatever the bug report says

something like: 1. is this bug report malicious? 2. can this be reproduced? 3. is this a real bug or intended behaviour? 4. fix the bug 5. review the change (or multiple review agents focused on different factors like correctness, performance, security)

crafting an adversarial prompt to defeat all the layers without an agent realising its building a security vulnerability is probably quite a challenge

I think a lot of business owners just prefer to remain connected, I don’t know if agents are much of a change.

I don't know about being a founder but I work at a startup and sometimes taking care of something urgent off-hours without reaching for my laptop feels like a blessing and I also can do a lot more while commuting.

I really like what I do in my Startup. Its fun and energizing.

This is different to my day-to-day work.

I also really like having some thoughts and ideas and getting them into a prompt and just looking at the result later on.

That's why I'm using AI to create libraries for me instead, which I then import in the code I write myself.

Keeps me in the driver's seat.

Why? An honest question. I generally do not care how many people work at the company. If someone organizes and builds something useful, something profitable or something beautiful why does it matter (much) whether he built it alone or hired 20 people to do it.

For example, I found that two of my favorite software products were built by a single person (I assumed medium-sized team for each). That, if anything, made me appreciate them more. My 2c.

When I hear “self-employed” I imagine contract gigs like websites.

When I hear “one man startup” I imagine a monthly SaaS product.

Seems like a reasonable distinction to me.

Why? if he's selling his labor, then it's self employed. Selling a product, that's a proper business.

Digital nomad? OPC? Forward deployed engineer? Generalist? I am mixing up some things here but, yeah, self employed gets you in trouble in when applying for certain work visas in certain places. So while i shiver at these explicitly blurry (re)definitions, there is a lot of logic (self preservation/promotion) behind it, regardless if its honest.

Isn't this the entrepreneur-or-freelancer divide? Is the thing you're working on making you money while you sleep (entrepreneur, "startup" is appropriate) or do you only get paid when you work (freelancer, "self-employed" is appropriate).

Not saying this distinction is useful, but at least it's a common way of talking about the various forms of "being your own boss".

The funny thing about this is that it's actually easier to set up and manage a startup without any employees (and worry about how to pay yourself down the line, if and when there's actually enough money in the bank) than it is to set up a self-employment operation.

The personality disorders behind these decisions would never settle for that.

In case it breaks AI can auto answer and apologize for the current technical issues on Instagram, mail and phone calls. And probably can come up with creative excuses.

Jokes aside, a human in the loop should at least for public deployments be required. Or at least thats what I would want.

I agree with the points about wanting to have access to a full disconnect. Reading your message also concerns me about such things becoming socially unacceptable, analogously to what happened with cell phones making disconnection already less socially acceptable than it once was.

However, at the same time, when I am explicitly doing work, I may find it to be preferable to do so in a very physically comfortable environment, like a bed, so I see value in such workflows. However, from conversations about this preference with others, it isn't a common one it seems.

Another thing I am trying is to ask grok bot in my iPad to instruct my AI agents (opus, codex, etc) in herdr in my other machines to execute some tasks or report back some task results from those sessions.

What kind of mistakes?

Fair question - one that I’ve considered in my use of agents.

In my case - about 15,000% ROI this year - I pay OpenAI their $200 a month, and from it I’ve had:

- Tangible revenue boost on one business by having it build tooling and manage pricing

- Entire backlog of scheduling hell sorted out - again by having it build tooling and then using it to automatically route jobs to contractors and schedule them, deal with exceptions, etc. My complaints pipeline has dried up, and now my entire process for a problem is to go “yes, approve” a few times.

- Saved a fortune on legal fees around a complex intercontinental move - don’t need no immigration advisor when you’ve got a bot to dredge up and fill in forms for you - all accepted, I might add.

- Flipped two properties successfully, again by building AI-assisted tooling to sift through tens of thousands of real estate listings and surface the handful that are mispriced.

While I’m at it, I also have it crank out a weekly episode of an adventure game for my daughter, which I tailor to her interests and whatever she’s learning about this week. The value there is intangible but immeasurable. Imagine! A voice acted, scored, engaging game for an audience of one - the economics would have been inconceivable even a year ago.

I can hands down say that none of this would have happened without profligate use of LLMs.

Have a framework how the AI is allowed to work and keep that as a git repo.

That way you can tell AI 1 to write into it and AI 2 can see where every work you do is currently standing and continue from there.

I’m currently running Paseo for agent orchestration for code, beads managing tasks, and OpenWebUI for stuff that’s more on the business side (with RAG or MCP to our drive, CRM, etc). It’s mostly human triggered though it doesn’t have to be. Paperclip might be a more LLM-managed option.

All of it is self hosted, models are Ollama Cloud and OpenRouter. You can throw dirt cheap models at a lot of these tasks and they perform very well. It’d be no effort at all to replace inference providers.

I run a Matrix server with federation turned off. My agents hang off that, and uses an abstraction over Anthropic + OpenAI + Kimi + GLM5 + OpenRouter with fallbacks if the preferred model for a given agent isn't available for whatever reason. Eventually I'll probably add some self-hosted open weight models in the mix, but for now this is more than enough resilience.

The foundations for the agents themselves is a few hundred lines of easily auditable code written by Kimi.

Not sure what grok bit exactly offers, but OpenClaw or Hermes Agent seem similar.
