Short on details. The article basically says repeats the article title 5 times and then hijacks your back button.

He’s not going to stop AI.

It’s going to make film production, software development, medical diagnosis, music instruction, etc. ad nauseum cheaper, better and more scalable.

It’s frightening in some ways, but it’s a massive productivity gain. It will continue to advance.

Can't argue with AI making nauseum cheaper, that's already evident.

On the human craft side, however, this article is also about the cancellation of Spider-Noir despite:

Spider-Noir was the actor's first TV role and was praised globally, with season 1 earning a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics of 92% and a 90% rating from audiences.
Critics stated that "This sharply written homage to classic film noir — which includes a standout Nicolas Cage performance — is the novel superhero project fans need," and "Spider-Noir is one of the standout shows of the year...." The cancellation was certainly a huge shock as it had earned 11 Emmy nominations and reached 2.6 billion minutes viewed within its first six weeks on Prime Video.
The arc here is Cage refuses to work with Amazon's AI vision in TV series, Amazon cancels any future work on the series just as series gets rave reviews and stacks nominations.

There's a tension between "productivity gains" and "quality" that still needs resolving.

> He’s not going to stop AI.

I'm sure he knows that, he's probably also aware that his opportunities for acting will be diminishing.

But we should be applauding him for having principles and sticking to them, which seems increasingly rare in this post-truth World. Avarice, deception and outright lying seem largely to have taken over from self-discipline and morality and it's rare for someone to draw a line in the sand and stand behind it.

>He’s not going to stop AI.

Can somebody explain why this obviously fallacious retort is so common somewhere as ostensibly elevated as HN?

I.e. yes, we know. What is the implication in context? That he should just shut the fuck up?

Wishcasting is very common, especially online. People seem to convince themselves that they’re a one-man information operation, or part of something great rather than a disposable cog.

Mostly though we live in a hypersaturated propaganda environment and it really really works on some. This effect is amplified when their paycheck depends, or is perceived to depend on the success of that propaganda.

Ahh yes. Productivity: that's what Hollywood needs.

All media, movies, television, streaming channels, all of it. All slop. Has been for years. AI just made it easier, cheaper and more obvious. I couldn't care any less because I don't watch any of it.
