The latest browser stats here https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share/ show Chrome at 66.45%, Safari 18.2%, Edge 6.02% and Firefox 2.79%.
If we look at Desktop only (since Microsoft has no mobile OS) it is Chrome 65.14%, Edge 14.64%, Safari 8.06% and Firefox 6.09%.
From this we can conclude that Google and Apple are quite successful at keeping users of their OS on their browsers (Chrome and Safari), but Microsoft is not.
Despite the issues Mozilla mentions, it is mainly on Windows that alt browsers succeed.
The problem here perhaps is that if Microsoft makes it even easier for third-party browsers to succeed on Windows, the main beneficiary will be Google rather than Mozilla.
