Although it's not saying that 51% are electric -- it's only saying that 49% are gasoline only. The 51% includes hybrid, plug-in hybrid, diesel as well as pure electric.

Don't know what they wanted to convey but I don't like that pure diesel cars are in the 51% bucket instead of the 49% one.

I imagine the diesel car number is almost negligible, given the price of diesel these days.

Hybrid vehicles are gas cars.

Let's use a cakes example. You can have all the chocolate you want in your cake, it won't be labelled as a chocolate cake but a poop cake as soon as you add poop to the recipe.

You are right, of course, and the curve won't really pass the 50% line on the graph for another few weeks or months.

But do you care about exactly when it passes?
