Hi HN, I'm Karim. I built Shootsolo because filming myself was slower than it should be. I'd prop the phone up, walk over to hit record, walk back, mess up the line, walk over again, and at the end scroll through 40 clips to find the 3 good ones.

Shootsolo tries to remove the parts of that loop that don't need a person:

- You say "Start Recording" / "Stop Recording" from across the room, so you never touch the phone.

- After each take it asks "Save take?" and you answer yes or no out loud. Bad takes are discarded on the spot instead of piling up in your camera roll.

- It records portrait and landscape from the same take, so one recording covers Reels/TikTok/Shorts and YouTube without re-filming or cropping later.

- There's a teleprompter, virtual studio lights, background blur and green screen, so a phone on a tripod gets you most of the way to a set.

It's free on iOS and Android. No ads, no watermark, no subscription, and it works offline. It's been out since July 2025 and more than 7,000 creators use it. Every voice keyword can be changed in settings, so if you'd rather say "And action" / "And cut", you can.

I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who films themselves regularly. What still slows you down that a camera app could take off your hands?
