How would this possibly control for economic decline?

The largest electoral swings to the far right in the history of the developed world are 1930 in Germany (economic difficulty), 1956 in France (economy doing well), 1968 in the USA (economy doing well), 1973 in Denmark (economy doing well), 1992 in Israel (economic difficulty) and 2022, 23, 24 and 26 in Italy, the Netherlands, France and Germany respectively (economic difficulty).

The only way to even begin making any useful conclusions is to start with a two-axis graph.

This seems specific to western europe, so I'm curious how a country like Australia would fit into this study? Significantly higher immigration, but also lower Far-Right voting(I know, I know, PHON, but while they've always been around, they've never been as prominent as very recently, and it feels entirely inorganic. They're also not doing nearly as well as the AFD, Le Pen, or Reform).

I'd be far more curious about the correlation between consumption of various social media platforms and Far-Right voting...
