I might even be in the prehistory of this because I'm an aggrieved android tablet user who has to rely on 3rd party apps like molly because there's no sim-less android support yet there is signal on laptop, and ipad. Go figure.

So phoneless, for payment to suppress spammers. Real money/value changes hands to do this. And a good question which appears unanswered: can existing phone # validated people in signal convert out to phoneless?
