In Canada, I was able to get both shots last year, when I was 52. I intend to take the Shingles vaccine again when I am in my 70s. Yes, there is a family history - my father is sliding into dementia in his late 80s.

If there is any chance, you should definitely get the vaccine when you hit 50. Earlier, if there is a risk of early-onset dementia.
