looks like great performance.. how does one buy/use this? every ~6mo i go looking for good eink monitors/devices, but am regularly disappointed

https://www.crowdsupply.com/modos-tech/modos-flow I believe the user modified an existing Modos Display (possibly not the one on pre-order), so I do not know if that developer's mod will go into one of their monitor's firmware. You can ask in their Discord channel (the company is aware of his work)

"In this video I explain a new approach to error diffusion dithering on EINK panels. I had tried out Atkinson Dithering and Floy Steinberg dithering and came to the conclusion, that Atkinson works great for UI and browsing. Floyd Steinberg excels at Images and Video. So instead of having to choose between the two I made a hybrid mode that decides based on grey level thresholds which algorithm to use. It works quite well and brings us one step closer to a universal EINK mode."
