This would up the game for wind energy. Less land footprint per KW, better capacity factor.
Would airborne wind be cheaper than photovoltaics?
It probably depends on geography (latitude and weather patterns)

This idea has been tried for decades with little to no success. I'd be shocked if this turned out differently.
