Given the temperament of the current POTUS, using that word seems ill-advised.

Who knows. Could just burn down the ballroom this time and would anyone be too mad?

“If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.” — Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Let’s be honest, everyone who tried appeasement is in a much worse position with the man child.

Sun Tzu's advice is good - in 1-vs-1 hot wars with limited stakes.

That is not Canada's current situation, let alone its desired situation.

And diplomacy has many options between appeasement and provocation.

You are ignorant of the context. Read about the last-minute changes to the US position: they contained several requests that, for internal reasons, Canada can't grant without weakening our federation. Specifically, abandoning French language protections.

Remember, we're a fissiparous country already; this US proposal was bait for Carney to alienate half his constituency.

Carney was placed in a constructed temptation and successfully passed the marshmallow test.

Americans, eff off, eh?

There does seem to be a strain of Trump respecting people for standing up to him.

I guess that's the thing with draft dodging, cowardly sex predators. If the going gets tough, they find an easier victim.

Look how well Iran has done standing up to him, he has literally been fucking owned by Iran and really done nothing of substance in response.

One of the worlds more infamous, low IQ, low T, sleep on the job, corrupt, DEI hires ever, the irony is wonderful ;)

Big NORAD exercises starting tomorrow. Going to be interesting to see what Trump makes of that. “Why are Canadians commanding US soldiers? Why is the US paying to defend Canada? Against Russia, our good friends?”

I’m good with US keeping their soldiers to themselves. Along with their goods. Many of us Canadians are ready to finalize a divorce to the US. This isn’t a Trump issue either. Someone got him into office.

The world community is small enough that even after the divorce, we will still have to interact with each other constantly; it behooves us to not be spiteful, as much as it may cathartic.

If you think keeping in mind that we're still going to be neighbours with a massive border is appeasing an abuser, you're an idiot. This is international relations, not an interpersonal drama.

Interesting that you chose to flag instead of discuss reasonably. Says a lot about your comportment.
