I just hope they don't damage the grocery store across the street. It's called "the willows" and they make some incredibly good sandwiches

I used to live five minutes walk from this intersection and a stone’s throw from the campus. These people fought for years to prevent a sandwich shop from opening nearby because it would bring non-wealthy people near their homes. If they don’t want the shops that enable medium-density, then I guess they’re going to get upgraded straight to high density. Suburbia inside city cores is utterly doomed in the Bay Area and it’s decades overdue.

Fun fact: northeast facing residents of these towers should be able to see directly down into the Zuckerberg compound at 5-10° east of north with a pair of opera glasses. Ironic that the Zucks haven’t built an arcology yet, but maybe this will inspire them to. The more housing the better for this particular area, especially if it hoovers up the local 0.0001% and leaves behind more homes for people who actually need them.

The picture of the proposed development is really very jarring and would change the image of Menlo Park drastically. I guess that's fine though, they need housing, but it looks like something in downtown San Jose.

DT SJ is ok. They have nice shops, yummie street food, good restaurants, light rail, bicycle paths, nice parks, great public libraries.

There is always something new to discover, when I'm there. But not as overwhelming as other places. Actually enjoyable for me.

Just need some noise canceling in-ears against the buzzing hum of all the traffic.

Turned off my ad blocker and, lo and behold, normal scrolling worked (perhaps it had been hanging on the cookies-related box at the bottom, which didn't appear with ad-blocking on). With the ad blocker, I could scroll only by grabbing the scrollbar; mouse-wheel, PageUp/PageDown, etc. didn't work. Haven't seen this behavior anywhere else lately.
