Really don't know what's wrong with a 3rd party asking your opinion and you saying I think it would be bad if my boss censored me. Seems a silly reason to be fired.

... and if your boss told you never to tell her things she didn't want to hear, her boss might not be so thrilled about that. Nor might the market. You're aware that the people making these decisions work for the public, right?

The reason Stars and Stripes has had so much independence for so long is that bosses who weren't morons saw the value in that. The reason it's losing it now is that bosses who are morons don't.
