> KAGI (Kah-gee) is the next search engine I recommend, and it's probably the best non-google search available, at the moment, in terms of results and reach. Kagi is one of the only modern search engines that maintains its own index (so it doesn't rely on google or bing or yahoo for its results) and prioritizes non-commercial websites (though commercial websites do appear in the results as well) which leads to a more "SMALL WEB" feel.
This is not entirely correct. Kagi does operate their own index, but it's very small, so they rely on most of the other big indices for results.
God, this is awful. I bet Claude Code can one shot an "UN-AI YOUR INTERNET" website 10 times better than this.
Articles like this are interesting. Its like all those "De-Google yourself" articles from 10 years ago, or the articles touting privacy focused options to SV companies. Yet the world keeps using the boogeyman option.
Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Meta etc etc. They just keep growing despite how people feel about them. I think the world has a tech addiction and it will take something pretty substantial to change that.
Interesting (if incredibly superficial) compilation of tips, but what’s baffling to me is how can anyone look at this atrocious layout and think “yeah, looks good”. On mobile it is especially asinine.
