Its a weird spectrum of AI generation and filtering from what I'm aware of. Obviously if something is fully AI generated or heavily guided using an original human as reference most would coutn it as fake.
But does someone using heavy filtering and douyin makeup to push the filtering even stronger count as "real"? How much becomes too much, when does it become fake?
I see these on insta fair bit. It’s wild how many comments they get from people trying to interact with them. Or maybe know they’re fake and praising their hotness anyway…not sure which it is.

The lighting is usually easiest to tell. Image gen like evenly well lit people regardless of scene being a darkish hotel room or whatever
couldn't you have seen an indistinguishable one, and by definition, wouldn't notice?
Judging from the pictures shown in the article, the uncanny valley remains undefeated. But there's people out there who are easily fooled, so I'm not surprised the fakes are effective.
