Reminds me of the copper statue-of-liberty program at a similar time. Local youth groups (largely the Scouts) would do a fundraiser for the pedestal, then a foundry in Kansas City would ship you a six-foot (or so) replica in metal. Still can be found throughout the midwest - Iowa has some 200 in parks and public places.
