AI-written :( But if true the thesis as I understand is: Oracle is dependent on OpenAI, and so is on shaky ground.

I skimmed the article but struggle to read through the Claude-isms to whatever it's trying to say. It's not as bad as some articles. I got lost at the end with the Israel stuff.

"Load-bearing assumption" was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

It's really bizarre that someone would prompt an LLM to write an article about how bad LLMs are, and then proudly publish the product.

It's really bizarre how many people come to Hacker News to bitch about LLMs

It's really bizarre that you would register a new account just for this, etc., etc.

I'm not bitching about LLMs. I'm bitching about this particular human operator's lack of introspection.

Pretty strange to see a bunch of articles all at once proclaiming doom for Larry... I mean, everyone has their bad days, but I still have a hard time believing that oracle fails while he's still alive.

I hope they turn out to be right. What the article describes is a ponzi scheme and Larry is deeply involved in it. Even if it was AI written is more to the point than the NYT article that goes on and on rambling about his private island and 23 year old Chinese wife. Why does it matter?

"oof, written by AI, I be struck plumb dumb doH" - half the HN commentors, probably...

Its really simple. Larry went long AF on OpenAI, and OpenAI can never be profitable.

It isn't rocket science; it's first year finance.

Had no idea Larry was pushing to become the new Murdoch.

Late stage capitalism --- equity markets degenerate into thinly disguised ponzi schemes.

Just like in a ponzi scheme, contractual obligations (aka debt) are now moving in a circular pattern among a handful of large AI players. And markets are accepting and treating this as "growth" --- all while the underlying business model is actually setting cash on fire.

And just like any ponzi scheme, this can't continue indefinitely.
