I'm a computer science professor with a PhD looking to make a move back to industry. I've been enjoying the teaching and research I'm doing, but I'm interested in getting back to making products people actually use. I have significant database and systems experience including as one of the PMC members of Apache Calcite, an open source relational data management platform used by Uber, Netflix, and others.

I have 10+ years experience as a software engineer/researcher (including as a grad student) and my lab, the Data Unity Lab at the Rochester Institute of Technology works on some cool stuff related to non-relational data management. I still find the time to write code both with my students and my own. Delivering high-quality code along with any work I publish is very important to me.

I'm interested in either senior software/data engineering or data science roles. The technology used is less important to me than an interesting product and a great team. I have a lot of experience picking up new tech quickly and I'm looking forward to using that in new ways.

20+ years experience in biotech drug development from discovery research to analytical development for small molecule, biologics (esp. antibodies & related modalities) and cell & gene therapies. Excellent communication skills to translate technical topics to a diverse audience. Happiest being challenged to learn new things, solve hard problems and work across disciplines. For example the most fun I had at ShapeTx was developing a Python class to analyze and visualize raw charge determination mass spec data on intact AAV vectors because no such software was available at the time.

Prefer startups and will cheerfully do whatever needs to get done without drama. Seeking intellectual stimulation and the opportunity to work on projects with positive impact more than a fancy title or high salary. I would also be interested in entry level data scientist or analyst roles (or anything else that engages my strategic thinking / analytical brain.)

Hi HN, I’m looking for my next challenge. I’m a hybrid profile somewhere between a software engineer, a scientist, and an entrepreneur.

I’ve worked at CERN, in startups and scaleups, and at international research centres. I’ve also co-founded a startup and participated in Entrepreneurs First. I’ve led teams and owned technical and product roadmaps end to end.

I’m primarily interested in lead roles and above (Staff/Principal/Lead/Head), including founding or early technical leadership roles, with substantial ownership and high agency, where I can define strategy and execute it. I’m particularly effective in interdisciplinary, cross-field, and ambiguous environments, where I can leverage my zig-zag career path to act as a force multiplier.

I’m also open to senior IC roles in areas where I’m particularly strong and can be a “10x”: time series, anomaly detection, and making HPC easier to use.

If you have anything for me, I look forward to hearing from you!

Résumé/CV: https://himwant.org/resume.pdf

Email: akshitgaur [at] proton [dot] me

I am a CS undergrad at JNU (2027) focused on the intersection of Systems Programming and ML Infrastructure. I prefer working at the lower levels of the stack where memory efficiency and reproducibility are the primary constraints.

Recent Work:

Rust Compiler (rustc) Contributor: Contributed to T-bootstrap regarding thin-rlibs and standalone metadata resolution. Identified and resolved a dependency resolution failure in the run-make test infrastructure, unblocking dogfooding efforts for -Zno-embed-metadata.

ML Infrastructure: Implemented foundational mathematical operators (GEMM, Softmax) for the Burn deep learning library in pure Rust.

Kernel Internals: Published technical analysis of xv6-RISCV internals, recent work on synchronization primitives and trap handling. Blog: https://himwant.org/series/xv6/

Declarative Systems: Use Guix/Nix to maintain hermetic, FHS-emulated build environments for complex toolchain development.
Looking for Summer 2026 internships in Systems Engineering, Compiler Development, or AI/ML Infrastructure. I am comfortable navigating large, high-stakes codebases and operating independently.

I’m Luke. I’m a high-leverage, big-picture, generalist software engineer w/ 18 years experience, looking for Staff/Principal level roles with broad responsibility where building+improving the engineering org through processes, practices, coaching, and strategic initiatives is a primary responsibility. I can work on any stack, on any kind of problem. The more dimensions the problem has, the more value I’ll bring. My last name is Barton.

I’m open to working with small companies looking to scale (or build something that will scale) and larger companies looking to cultivate a stronger engineering practice.

*I’m open to remote, but I’m a believer that our best work is often done working together in three dimensions, so I’ll be very keen to understand how you’re solving the challenges of working together remotely.

12+ years of experience building iOS and macOS apps of all kinds. Dropped business school in 2014 when I got hired into a growing startup and moved to SF. Eventually cofounded and built an early crypto app and raised a small seed. Hired 3 people but legal issues sunk us after a year or two. Joined an international crypto exchange and rebuilt their iOS app from the ground up in Swift, hired a team around it (8 people) and managed it all as the iOS Tech Lead for 4+ years until mid-2023. Took a break after a decade of constant employment, been managing my personal funds and building nonstop on side projects and financial tools. Would be keen to switch gears again to join a good crew and contribute to something bigger.

Location: EU

Willing to relocate: Depends on the location (but with a strong bias for EU-Schengen/US locations)

Technologies: Java, Python (and variants thereof like Groovy, Clojure, Pypy), Node/TS | AWS/Lambda Serverless, GCE/Kubernetes | Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB

Resume: https://bit.ly/3B3o65M (It links to my CV repo at Github, pinky promise. You can also visit github.com/<hnusername>.)

I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.

Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.

Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.

I'm currently a backend engineer developing features and improving infra for an online game with millions of daily active users. I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other tech-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!

  Résumé / Portfolio: https://www.douglasmckinley.com
  Email: cadocary@gmail.com
Seattle-based full-stack engineer open to remote, hybrid, or in-office roles. Willing to relocate and actively interested in doing so.

My experience spans production full-stack web applications (Postgres, Express, React, Node), cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP, browser automation using Selenium, and Windows desktop tooling with Tkinter and PyInstaller.

I’m currently operating as a consultant, working across technical implementation and customer-facing responsibilities, and I’m comfortable partnering closely with sales and non-technical stakeholders. Clients range from startups that nobody’s heard of to aerospace manufacturers that everybody’s heard of. I’m happy to sign NDA’s and bill against PO’s, but I would prefer a full-time W2 role. (https://cadocary.com)

Earlier in my career, I worked in electronics and hardware, including DO-160 compliant aircraft electronics testing, circuit design, and electrical bench tools. More recently it’s fullstack webapps and AI wrappers, including training and deploying own models, specifically supervised classification. My most recent W2 position was as a Patent Examiner in AI (Art Unit 2121) at the USPTO.

A defining part of my background is teaching computer science at Central Washington University. I taught nearly all core CS degree courses, authored four original courses that were added to the official catalog, and earned the highest student evaluation scores in the department across all quantitative metrics. Software engineer with more than 10 years of experience, working remotely for US startups for the past 5 years. I've owned projects end to end with a product mindset that has allowed me to design impactful solutions that brought great value. Here are some of my achievements: At Moskit CRM, I helped the team scale the product and increase its MRR by more than 15 times in less than 3 years. At Jobble, I proposed and led the implementation of an EDA that improved payment reliability and reduced the time spent on payment reconciliation by over 90%. It also improved the efficiency of the engineering team, as the same EDA was used to implement other features. At COVU, I developed a new ETL system that enabled the company to perform complex data analyses that were not possible before, improving the decision-making process.

Full-stack software engineer with about 8 years of professional experience. My career started out in Dept. of Defense contracting work, focusing on Python and Node applications for data processing and visualization. I then transitioned into a NYC-based startup on a small engineering team of five building a sales consulting platform, where I contributed on all aspects of the application (frontend, backend, database, GCP/deployment, CI/CD, security, Sentry, SAML/SSO, onboarding, emails, Salesforce integration, and more).

I've also built side projects, including: Vision Zero Reporting (https://visionzeroreporting.com) which earned 3rd place on Show HN and served as a panelist at the Vision Zero Cities conference; and Trash Panda (https://trashpandaextension.com/), a browser extension that removes social metrics from the web, including like counts, number of subscribers, views, followers, etc.

Hi, I'm Michael Geary. I've programmed in many languages and environments over the years. Some of my current interests are:

• Developer experience. I love helping my fellow developers solve problems, and building tools to make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.

• Aviation and geographic data. For example, airspace and obstacle data importers for Wing; election results and voter information maps for Google; many interactive maps for other companies.

• Hardware interfacing. In a way, I am a "full stack" developer, but my stack may involve a front end to a piece of hardware rather than the cloud. I first got into programming via ham radio, so RF hardware remains an interest.

• Designing and building APIs. Too often an API is designed by exposing the internals of whatever system provides the API. My philosophy is the opposite: start with the apps. I like to build a series of sample apps before starting on the API. This way I can imagine what API will make those apps and others like them easy to build.

• Talk with users! I don't like to sit in a back room cranking out code. I want to make sure it's the right code for what my users need, and that it's easy to maintain and improve as we learn more about what they want.

Open to full time or contract.

I look forward to talking with you!

I am transitioning out of my role of CTO and am exploring opportunities. I have 15 years of web experience building CMS and CRM for small and large companies.

As a co-founder (as well as my prior years), I wore many hats and spent countless hours as a result I can architect and design large codebases, hire and retain talent, lead and manage teams and set company-wide goals. I built and managed an engineering team located all around the globe and built a platform empowering small and medium businesses to run their operations; the company is entering a new phase of growth and it is the right time for me to find opportunities that aligns with my personal goals.

I am looking for a role at an established company. The bigger the problem, the more exciting. A perfect role for my profile may be one that blends my experience of building a successful B2B2C startup (building teams, product and software) and my experience of building B2B tools at a large company (Twitter).

If you need someone that can be an immediate value-add, bringing a ton of firepower, solving big problems and rallying teams to move mountains: hit me up!

Hi I'm Thomas. I make teams easier, often creating fixes for customer/developer pain points (really good at this). Although I've not had the title of "Lead" to date, I've filled that role as advisor to peers, user story generator, and representative for requirement meetings with stakeholders. I'm ready to lead a gangbuster team!

I view the agreement between stakeholder and developer as one which can be a beautiful moment of pure communication, and that idea leads me to both develop to specifications and define requirements in user stories with precision.

A passion and thrill of mine is orchestrating/comprehending complex code bases and noting/implementing fixes and optimizations to them. I strive to develop around the highest impact areas so that the most taxing and critical functions can run without error. I also love maps, rockets, organizing data and BYU sports. GO Cougs!

I was one of the people growing the deep learning revolution in Finland organizing Cybercom Machine Learning Guild and later AI Morning, and created one of the first open source implementations for Google Wavenet. I have won two IndustryHack competitions. I have authored quite a lot of patents in deep learning.

Most recently I have worked to teach cancer biology to machine intelligences to exceed human level in oncology.

I am open to all kinds of senior and leadership positions which benefit from a generalist.

You built something good.

Now you need the right people to notice, consistently.

And of course, you want it to be automated, but not sound robotic.

That’s where I come in. I work at the intersection of positioning, copy, email, and systems -- turning a good product into attention and a steady pipeline.

GTM engineering + B2B lead gen + copywriting + emails.

Open to full-time, part-time or fractional roles with smart teams that need help in this area.

Hey, I'm Cameron! I enjoy building dynamic, high-performance applications—ranging from responsive UIs with React to real-time backend systems that scale.

Most recently, I created Willow, an open-source framework for building Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines. It leverages Kafka, Debezium, and PostgreSQL to process database changes in real time. You can check it out here: https://willow-cdc.github.io/.

What I bring to the table:

- React & Frontend Expertise: Built component-driven UIs with React, TypeScript, and Material UI - Backend & Data Processing: Designed scalable APIs, database workflows, and event-driven systems - Distributed Systems & Real-Time Data: Worked with Kafka, WebSockets, Redis, and CDC pipelines - DevOps Awareness: Experience with Docker, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and performance tuning

I'm looking for remote opportunities where I can work on scalable web apps, high-performance APIs, and data-driven workflows.

If that sounds like a fit, let’s chat!

Email: bc (at) blaiseclarke.com

Hi! I'm a computational neuroscientist pivoting fully out of the wet lab into data engineering. My background is in systems neuroscience, building MATLAB codebases to analyze and quantify preclinical biomarkers in animal models.

Recent project is a containerized biosignal pipeline to analyze human EEG data:

* Uses Prefect/Python for orchestration and ingesting

* DuckDB or Snowflake for storing cleaned raw data

* dbt for modeling sleep architecture, average band power, and other metrics

* Pandera for enforcing data contracts, rejecting corrupt signal data before warehouse loading

* CI with Pytest/GitHub Actions

I'm looking for a full-time position within data engineering. I'm particularly interested/strong in high-frequency time-series data analysis (e-phys, biosignals, energy grids, etc.). I'm a quick learner and am really eager to pick up additional stacks and technologies.

Code review, mentoring. Product work. Tech lead experience.

Resume: https://dmitry.cheryasov.info/resume/with-intro/

Email: in the resume.

Summary: I'm an experienced software engineer, looking for a hands-on senior software engineer / tech lead position, backend-leaning, with significant frontend skills. I worked at companies of all kinds, from seed-stage startups to literal FAANG. I always end up working in close interaction with product people, stakeholders, and (if lucky enough) prospective users. I'm used to working cross-functionally and cross-team, improving communication, coordinating work of several teams to build and operate the thing which the business needs. I prefer building the right thing without haste, but know how to prioritize shipping the most impactful changes sooner. I value autonomy and high impact. I built things from a nebulous idea to a final implementation and production launch. I evolved large existing systems, including frontend, backend, and databases. I'm glad to communicate with people, to mentor fellow engineers when appropriate, to coordinate work, but I'm not trying to become a full-time people manager. My north star is people like John Carmack or Rob Pike.

Willing to relocate : No, but long commute is fine.

Technologies : Javascript, React, Python, Flask, Three.js

Resume : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U--OxNDuwfyaMYV5BXM0Av7f...

Email : BMcCarthy90@gmail.com

Summary : I'm a self taught/bootcamp trained developer who got into Three.js via my career in post production. I love 3D modeling and animation, but always wanted to make my models interactive. I love transit and urbanism, so I built a 3D NYC subway map and trip planner...

https://my3dtrains.com/

It's not quite formatted for mobile, and still has a few bugs (New year's resolution to fix them...), BUT, it works for most subway trips! It took forever to build since it was my first large project.

I'm also working on a particle based 3D music visualizer. Demo video available here...

https://vimeo.com/1147473608?fl=pl&fe=sh

Anyway, I hope my projects speak to my interest and ability in software engineering (specifically 3D applications, transit/urbanism/maps, and data vis). Hiring career switchers with no experience is not in vogue at the moment, but what I lack in experience I make up for in curiosity and creative thinking.

I've been using Go as my primary language for the last nine years, although I don't overly care about the specific language and have experience with a wide variety of tools and languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, C, JavaScript, Lua, and probably some more. While I've mainly focused on backend in the last few years, I also have written plenty of frontend code over the years, from the "pre-jQuery" days to VueJS.

In the last few years I mainly focused on GoatCounter (https://www.goatcounter.com) with the occasional contract job, but I'm keen to start working on something new for the longer term.

I've got quite a bit of code on my GitHub, so you can take a look at that if you want: https://github.com/arp242

I'm an independent consultant and frontend engineer helping startups (and a few large organizations) bring new products to market since 2012.

I can help you with:

- Building the first MVP of your product to put in front of investors and early adopters

- Overhauling existing products by adding major new features or paying off tech debt

- Helping your team get up to speed with emerging technologies

- Modernizing legacy products and migrating them off legacy tech stacks

- Acting as a bridge between your design and engineering teams

I'm primarily a frontend developer who is comfortable working with vanilla HTML/JS/CSS as well as more complex frameworks (mainly React). I enjoy being a heads-down technical contributor to codebases. However, working with early-stage companies has allowed me to dabble in UX design, hiring, mentoring, technical writing, technical workshops, and product design. I enjoy wearing a ton of hats, and prefer to work at orgs that allow me to use the full set of my abilities.

I enjoy using LLMs, but I do so responsibly. I write regularly at https://ankursethi.com/. I prefer short to medium term contracts (think 4-8 months).

CV: https://keloran.dev/post/cv

Email: jobs.at.develbox.info

I am a backend engineer with over 25 years of experience in almost every language at this point, but I have been mainly dealing with Go/Typescript for the last 5 years, I have a million projects and an absolute ton of code online

https://github.com/keloran

____

A good example of a project is https://flags.gg which is a multi-tenant/project/agent/environment system which has language support in Swift/Kotlin/PHP/Ruby/Rust/Go/React and is in use in things like

https://interviews.tools which is an interview planning system that has a website written in typescript/react and an iOS app written in Swift (hence the language support) which exists on the App Store, and an Android app written in Kotlin (again hence the language support) which will/should be in the play store by the end of next week (been through testing already just waiting for play store approval)

I would prefer not to do technical tests, you don't ask a surgeon with 20 years experience to cut someone up, you accept that yes they know how to do simple things like how to write a for loop (to stretch the analogy) as I have said I have hundreds of thousands of lines of code online if you want to check out my code

Hello! I’m a software engineer with professional experience in backend and full-stack development. Most recently, I worked as a Software Engineer at SiriusXM Radio, where I contributed to large-scale production systems. I was affected by a recent layoff and am now actively seeking my next opportunity.

My strongest languages are Python, Java, and JavaScript. I’ve worked across multiple environments, including over a year in a classified setting, and I currently hold an active security clearance.

I’m seeking a full-time entry- to mid-level software engineering role, ideally focused on backend or full-stack development. I’m open to opportunities across industries and teams and am happy to discuss how my experience could be a fit for your needs.

I completed three years of Computer Science and Mathematics coursework at Virginia Tech, including the core CS curriculum (Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems). I was unable to complete my degree due to financial constraints.

At this time, I’m seeking salary-based positions (no equity-only roles).

I’m open to conversations, referrals, or advice and would love to connect. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Résumé/CV: Available by request

Email: rtlo9962@gmail.com

I'm a software engineer with a background in law and business (JD/MBA), now focused on hands-on engineering for cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and AI-powered applications. I enjoy architecting reliable systems and have experience with backend development and open-source contributions.

Most recently, I contributed to Mastra, an open-source TypeScript framework for AI agents and workflows. I focused heavily on integrations and reliability: I built the PostHog observability exporter to bridge OpenTelemetry spans with AI analytics, implemented the Azure OpenAI provider with OAuth2 token caching, and resolved critical state propagation issues within Model Context Protocol (MCP) workflows. Working on a Datadog Observability exporter currently.

I also created Nimbus (https://nimbusnlp.github.io/), an open-source framework that simplifies deploying lightweight NLP models to AWS. It utilizes a TypeScript CLI and AWS CDK to automate the provisioning of serverless infrastructure (Lambda via Docker), reducing deployment time from hours to minutes.

Previously, I contributed to Mozilla Firefox, enabling extension developers to manually trigger update checks to accelerate the delivery of security patches, alongside safeguards to prevent keyboard shortcut conflicts.

I also have experience building AI agents and RAG-based applications.

I am looking for remote or hybrid work in NYC or CT.

Résumé/CV: https://linkly.link/2Wb4u

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michal-svec/

I'm a motivated final year CS student who will be ready for full time employment in 07/2026 so I'm seeking junior/graduate level roles that revolve around backend stuff and where I can learn a lot.

I started programming on my own at the age of 15. Since then, I have explored multiple areas, including mobile app development (native and Flutter), web development (React, Next.js, Vue), QA, MLOps, and AI/ML. During this exploration phase, I realized that I want to focus my career on backend development.

My experience includes several internships and side projects. In my most recent internship at JetBrains, I worked on the backend for remote Kotlin code compilation. Prior to that, I worked at Dell on the MLOps team, where I gained exposure to DevOps and some cloud technologies.

You can check out my resume and GitHub (link included in the resume) for a complete overview of my experience and side projects.

Most of my coding experience is in Java and Python. I also really enjoy Kotlin and I am currently learning Go (Golang) by building a simple VPN as a side project. I prefer working with strongly typed languages. For example, I don’t have much experience with Rust or C++ but I’m eager to learn.

Feel free to reach out to me via email or connect with me on LinkedIn. My personal details are included in my resume.

Hi, I'm Harry Altman! I was the maintainer of Truffle Debugger (https://github.com/trufflesuite/truffle/tree/develop/package...), a Solidity smart contract debugger, for 5 years. I eventually ended up writing my own decoding and encoding libraries to support it, as well as a bunch of other things.

I'm good at this sort of nitpicky work, spotting and thinking about edge cases. I like getting things exactly right, even though that obviously isn't always possible due to various constraints. I've been kind of wondering if I should get into embedded development; I find it appealing when things are low-level or similarly constrained. I've beaten Microcorruption. :) (The original levels, I haven't played the new ones.)

I'm also quite interested in unusual or obscure data formats, and working on Truffle Debugger and its associated libraries certainly involved a bunch of having to figure undocumented formats and interfaces. :) I put down above what languages I've worked substantially in but I'd say I'm a generalist and will figure out whatever you give me (I knew approximately no Javascript, Typescript, or Solidity when I started working at Consensys).

I'm a mathematician by background and in my spare time, so after the Truffle Debugger project was shut down I took some time off to focus on my mathematical projects. But now I'm looking for work again! If you need someone like me, I'm available for hire!

Résumé/CV: https://mkr.pw/resume

I'm a performance and design-oriented full-stack developer. I can both build a product from scratch or take on an existing codebase and quickly help resolve scaling or performance bottlenecks. As an architect, I'm fluent with design. I can work closely with a designer or adapt to an incomplete spec and design and build with ease.

I love a good challenge, and I'm personally fond of decentralisation-related ideas and open source. I also enjoy writing parsers and protocol-related work. I've worked with many languages and can quickly adapt on demand. I don't believe language is ever an obstruction.

Timezone is also rarely a problem; I can work with significant overlap in working hours for most countries (plenty of experience working with US, Europe).

I can also be a "normal" full-stack engineer but I bring much more value when my work is interdisciplinary. So far, I've noticed that this happens when I'm a data analyst/software engineer hybrid in a marketing team, while collaborating with marketing professionals.

My academic background is a mix between psychology and computer science. I love the intersection of it.

I have EU work authorization but can also work remote for US companies on a freelance basis through the US/EU agency that hires me for freelance assignments.

Experience: 3 years Ruby on Rails

Hi! I'm Emrecan, a software developer with an unconventional background—I started with a bachelor's in Psychology before transitioning to software development six years ago. I spent three years as a Ruby developer in a fast-paced startup environment, where I built scalable web applications and worked across the stack.

In my free time, I design and implement a pure functional programming language using Rust, which keeps me engaged with language design, compilers, and type systems. I'm drawn to challenging technical problems and research-oriented projects—the kind with steep learning curves that push me to grow. If you're working on something intellectually stimulating beyond typical CRUD applications, I'd love to hear from you.
