From what I've heard and seen, dying of rabies has to be one of the worst possible ways a human can go.

Though it has a lower mortality rate (rabies is a slate cleaner) - the tetanus end-game looks pretty rough as well. Vaccines FTW.

Rabies is quite rare in dogs in the USA. And breakthrough rabies in a previously vaccinated animal is exceptional.
