Thanks — good point. Ideally, the construction of the large array should run asynchronously, with a small animation to bridge the wait. On weaker devices, 5+ seconds can be realistic. The app has a bit of a game-like character and intentionally does a single upfront loading step. For now, I’m keeping it synchronous because I want to be sure it works reliably across all combinations of browsers and devices.
