The history is a distraction from the real problem: Many people view "almost open source" licenses (including fair source) as pure evil that is even worse than proprietary. This blowback prevents any innovation in licensing and locks out new business models.
Now with a new and improved title so hopefully more people than you have the opportunity to discover it. :^)
