Claude knows me pretty well at this point. It knows I'm a PM at a fintech, that I want direct feedback, no preamble. Months of conversations shaped that understanding.

Then I open ChatGPT and it asks if I want formal or casual tone. Back to zero.

I pitched this problem at a hackathon. The room was polite. But one builder lit up — he'd been solving it with markdown files in Obsidian, synced to Dropbox, manually pasted into system prompts. Janky, but telling.

Arete is an MCP server that stores your identity and makes it available to any tool that speaks the protocol.

Setup: `npx arete-mcp-server setup` (npm: https://www.npmjs.com/package/arete-mcp-server)

Honest limitation: Claude doesn't proactively use MCP tools without a system prompt nudge. I include one in the README. This is the distribution problem with MCP — tools are passive until hosts prompt models to use them.

Looking for power users who feel this pain. Drop a comment for an invite code, or DM me @gjordaodoteth.
