“Self-driving” describes what the system does, not who bears responsibility.

If Tesla had ever explicitly claimed a “self-driver” or “driverless” system, that would indeed be a serious issue — but that’s a different claim.

I am surprised this is only happening now. It should have happened years ago. And why would a ban just be for 30 days?

Looking at some other sources, it seems like initial DMV setup was a 30-day Can't Sell Or Manufacture, which I bet has a mechanism to renew/extend over and over.

Then on top of that an official (administrative judge) ruled Tesla gets a 90 day pre-buffer before the the start of Can't-Sell, and indefinitely paused the Can't-Manufacture.

Just a feeling but how much tax revenue does Cali get from the sale, title, etc...?
