What’s his angle here? Did he somehow manage to remove some references to himself from the unreleased files?

The bill gives Pam Bondi a lot of leeway to redact the files for "national security" and "privacy" reasons.

Why would such a bill have bipartisan support though?

Oh right

Blondi will do as she's told, right? Didn't she previously say, months ago, that she had the files on her desk, ready for release.

Of course, any video evidence should be redacted. Seeing that could cause lifelong psychological scars, and in the shorter term, loss of apetite and extreme repeated bouts of nausea.

I just assume the only way those files will ever be released is after all references to Trump and any Republican have been excised so that the released files will only name Democrats.

Weasel wording.

Trump Gives Himself an Enormous Out on the Epstein Files

Even if Trump is forced to sign it to keep up the appearance of having dodged a stinging defeat, there’s no reason to think the Justice Department will release anything damaging about Trump.

Practically, there’s no real way for Congress to know if the Trump administration buries damaging documents or files.

Trump and the White House also seem to be leaving themselves a pretty big out.

In his social media post suddenly declaring he didn’t care if the House Oversight Committee got the Epstein files, Trump caveated it by saying they “can have whatever they are legally entitled to.”
“Legally entitled to” is doing a lot of work there.
