>Setting aside the environmental impact of flying private, you'd think all those brilliant minds could come up with some kind of solution beyond flying further away and driving into Portugal. Maybe a jet that hundreds of people can charter at once?

Seems like there's a business model here -- create a company that owns large aircraft and have some kind of booking engine that lets people book seats on those airplanes. Maybe have those planes travel on a fixed schedule to let people plan travel in advance.

Maybe there should be some sort of Uber type app here. Say super uber, which arranges the whole trip. Say you first get ride to somewhere. And then you are transferred to next leg of trip. And then after that is done, one or more legs to final destination. Some of these could be car rides, rikshaws, walking, even private yatchs or small scale sail-ships. Just imagine what would be possible with AI backend and LLM to automate whole thing!

Maybe you could also have ChatGPT book a hotel for you too at that point

If you use the TSA-free private terminal then you basically have Jet Suite X, its ok. The planes are old and there is nothing in the terminal if you do get stuck waiting so its not really amazing.

The Cannes Film festival has the same problem. Flying in to your yacht on some tiny private airport. Those people could wait hours to get a spot

Gee and I was hoping it was a political decision.

"Some flights have had to land up to two hours away from the Portuguese capital."

How embarrassing!

Its like a big yacht will have a small boat to take you to shore. The big planes need to carry little planes that can land at small local airstrips close by. Problem solved.
