I completely disagree that chess has somehow reached saturation and cannot experience significant further growth.

True, we might never see another period of explosive growth like we did from the twin boosters of Queen's Gambit and COVID, I think there's still plenty of room for growth. Out of all my friends, family and coworkers, I know exactly two people that actively play chess, and one of them is me.
