SPAM and theatre all-in-one! Believing your child can deflect bullets effectively by holding an 11" x 14" piece of armor is ridiculous. If you want a Captain America shield go ahead and pay the full price for one of vibranium.

What should your child protect? His/Her legs, head, arms or butt (choose only one)?

This seems to me like the "window break + seatbelt cutter" tools.

They are so weirdly specific emergency devices that if someone actually got to use one, I would check for insurance fraud.

A ceramic ballistic plate where the laptop goes would work. It light and shouldn't add a lot of weight.

Yes, provided the trajectory of the round is such that it impacts the plate first.

ballistic plates, and accesory layers help a lot.

the kinetic trauma is difficult to deal with, and not a lot can be done about that with so called hi power rifles.

ricochet is a problem for design. a round can ricochet the surface of the plate redirect and exit the edge striking upperlimbs, or head/neck area. this is mostly a consequence of hit from front. rear not so much but hitting someone nearby is very possible.

Where does one get such a thing? Is that something only police can get?

Yep. Terribly unsafe things, there's a real chance someone might use it to do something horrible.

It's a brilliant idea whoever thought of it.
