http://x.google.com and http://linux.google.com don't work; Google is not hosting them.

Update: it was my ISP. After switching networks and flushing the cache, it fails for me too.

there are sites where u can pop in a dname and get results from different servers outside of your isp influence. useful in such a case to get an idea if everyone has a similar response

I just get on iPhone: Safari can't open the page because the server can't be found.
