The Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders — previously known as Annual Tables — reveal the leading institutions and countries/territories in the natural and health sciences, according to their output in Nature Index journals in 2024.

China’s adjusted Share — which takes account of annual fluctuations in the volume of articles in the database year-on-year — jumped by 17.4% in the year to 2023. At the same time, the United States’ adjusted Share plummeted by 10.1%.
