My grandfather raised homing pigeons. He would put them in a cage in the back of his covered truck bed, we'd drive an hour into the mountains and he'd let them go while we ate lunch and then drove back home.

The pigeons would almost always all beat us home to their roost in the covered patio. They were cool birds. I would love to know more of what we've learned with all this animal GPS tracking – thanks for the share!

With so many GPS-tracked animals, I'm surprised we haven't heard more stories like this as animals learn and adapt.
