This is my own nightmare and why I personally have always told family members that any "DNA services such as or similar to 23&ME" should be avoided at all cost because it is a privacy nightmare.

Do I think that genetic testing done can provide cool medical insights and help discover lost or old family roots? Yes you bet it can, but its also a nightmare for privacy as you are basically trusting a company with some of the most sensitive data out their, and hoping they don't "seek new revenue opportunity's" or get hacked.

I want to one day be able to do this via a homelab setup or via a trusted party which can prove the destruction of all personal and biological data, but that's years and years off. Its hard to trust that this data would truly be destroyed, honestly I'd probably have to watch the entire process and then watch someone grind up the hard drives and burn any samples from me.
