One of my favorite things to do while I was on staff there was to peruse the library after hours and stroll around to the different labs and meeting rooms. Most of the time it was quiet but (usually towards the end of the semester) there would be the buzz of finishing projects and meeting deadlines. I wasn't the only one to do this - certain faculty would do the same and often get snagged by students or former students. It really was a learning experience for all. I don't think this is a good move - as the author states it will suck the curiosity out of the room by proxy.
