Some of these death threats -- I can't believe I'm writing this -- are for "creating and directing hurricanes."

How can anyone end up believing that meteorologists have the power to create and direct hurricanes?

Some of these death threats are also calling for the demolition of scientific equipment.

How can anyone end up believing that the destruction of scientific equipment is desirable?

Conspiracy theories about weather control have been around for years. Before "Jewish space lasers" it was HAARP and chemtrails.

>How can anyone end up believing that meteorologists have the power to create and direct hurricanes?

How can anyone end up believing that Hillary Clinton runs a satanic child slave ring under a pizzeria, or that "the elites" are secretly reptilian alien shapeshifters, or that Britney Spears is leaking secrets about the Illuminati through her music videos, or that Bill Gates put microchips in the Covid vaccines to harvest your adrenochrome?

Many people build their consensus reality based what the internet tells them. They no longer trust science, or the news media, and believe every establishment system of "expertise" is lying to them and manipulating them (and they aren't entirely wrong.) When a random jackass on TikTok or Youtube tells them about the Nephilim beyond the ice wall that surrounds the flat earth, they trust it implicitly because it runs counter to the mainstream narrative.

Sure, meteorologists control the weather. Why not? They have computers that show the weather on them, and then the weather happens. Are you going to believe the lies of the lamestream media and the same scientific establishment that doesn't want you to know the moon is a hologram, or are you going to believe your own eyes? Let's burn down the observatory so this never happens again!

These presumably are people who shout at litter bins but now have the internet to shout at. It is difficult to judge whether the population of such people is increasing, or do they just have a bigger audience?

I'm unsure this answers your question, but according to TFA the conspiracies are being spread by the former president of the U.S., his advisors, and members of U.S. Congress.
