I originally posted with a signupless_sessions option. This was great for getting lots of people to try it, but internally, the DB schema, and business logic for managing these "signupless" sessions really clashed with the regular sign up flow and was perenially buggy. So, eventually we cut it.

I want to reintroduce a "try without signup" option, but have not had insight yet into the right approach.
