This is an inequality, no? Why do the biggest companies get preferential treatment here? I do think there is a place for say, verified government or whatever (maybe also financial institutions because scams are devastating), but giving Apple checkmarks is odd.

Same gripe with BIMI in email. The theory is that scammers won't pay $1000 a year for the privilege of a checkmark, but its sorta just gatekeeping.

Ridiculous. I searched for information on the LA Times bombing of 1910 [0]. The first page of results includes the LA Times themselves, Library of Congress, Wikipedia, the Los Angeles Public Library, and San Diego State University. But none of these are verified. The only result that is? Amazon.com.
