So many ways to accomplish this without banning. Create a new tournament category that permits such cards, to play against only those who also use them. Limit them in decks to just one instance. Give opponents the right to pass on duels with such decks in tournament. Maybe more.

A ban is a lightning rod. Indeed it was a rough thing to do to those players that enjoy that kind of play.
