This looked interesting last time I looked into using Mindustry to teach coding to kids. The original Logic programming seemed a bit too low level.

https://mindcode.herokuapp.com

"Mindustry is a tower-defense type of game, now with added Logic. Logic is a programming language, but it is very low-level. It is more akin to assembly than high-level language.

Mindcode is a high-level language that compiles down to Mindustry Logic. Mindcode includes higher-level constructs, such as expressions, user-defined functions, control statements, or "direct" memory access.

Mindcode now comes with significantly improved code generation, including data flow analysis, loop unrolling and function inlining; for a list of recent changes, see changelog."

It's a really neat concept but definitely too deep for me. I bounced off of it pretty quick. I like tower defense games as a time waster and this needed too much thinking :)

I expected to like it because I managed to make it through most of Factorio and Shapez (haven't tried Shapez 2 yet). If you like tower defense games you should give this a try because it definitely offers something others don't!

shapez 2 is awesome! Definitely give it a shot if you liked the first.

Is this like an open source Factorio? Looks cool.

I think the Wiki should have some more screen shots and video, even though they are on steam. It might be good to also have on wiki also. It might be confusing that it is free for download, but have to visit steam to see it and there it costs.

from FAQ

" Why are you charging for the game on Steam and iOS when it is available for free? The game is being charged for on Steam and iOS because it is one way of supporting Anuke, and it has features not available on the free versions, such as:

A map, mod, and schematic browser Secure, seamless multiplayer using Steam Multiplayer (eliminates the need to port-forward) Publicly visible servers at startup Achievements Stat tracking Cloud saves and progress transfer using Steam Steam community

Mindustry is kind of like open-source Factorio with more of a combat and tower defense focus.

There's a link to Trello. Trello is so incredibly slow, even on the app. Does anyone wanna suggest a lighter alternative?
