Considering the ubiquity of smartphones, I would argue we're well past the point that this could be obviated.

More and more people want to disconnect. You can get beaten up getting into a men's bathroom with these glasses! It's illegal in California to record people without their knowledge, so, I hope more people get sued so that these can get banned.

You can get beaten up going into a men's bathroom with your phone out. It's a moot point - if people had any intention of disconnecting, then our tech businesses wouldn't be the only thing propping up the American economy. But the number of people leaving tech for good is regularly displaced by the number of new customers starting their lifelong addiction to technology. The median customer still doesn't care.

We live in a post-camera, post-surveillance world. I am entirely apathetic to the idea that Facebook could do a worse job than Apple or Google at protecting user privacy.
