I missed the “run your own mail server” kickstarter by a few short hours. If only Michael Lucas was selling physical books on the side…

Working on it!

Or, if you prefer, I'm helping Bookvault uncover bugs in their brand-new WP integration plugin. Decided not to wait for them to fix it to launch the book, because a fix might take forever.

>TLDR: Amazon pays roughly 70% of retail price for books priced up to $9.99, and 35% for books $10 and over. Amazon is the only retailer that does this. Other retailers, I make somewhere around 65%-70% no matter the retail price. Everything follows from that math, but if you want the details read on.

Wow that's nuts.

Couldn't he just sell it in two volumes on Amazon, and charge $7.50 for each volume?

I did that with the ZFS books. It was a right pain. Metadata management, confused readers, lots of administrative overhead.

The next edition of the ZFS tome will also be a single volume. Amazon won't get the Kindle version.

Is that something that the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA) could change (in Europe)?
