I haven't read the article but the title is getting my "this is bullshit" hackles up. Just filter the PFAS, what you do with the residue is of secondary concern and if you need to staple on marketing nonsense like "turn filtered out PFAS into renewable batteries!" for SEO purposes then the initial claim is likely bullshit as well. I hope this is the site author's creative flourish and not something the source article (which is likely three links deep if they even linked to the source) claims.

Edit after reading. The article doesn't link to any papers, but the person making the claims is a Dr. Cheng Zhang from the university of Queensland who published two papers in 2022, one about filtering PFAS, the other about using PFAS-based electrolytes in solid state sodium batteries: https://about.uq.edu.au/experts/14693.

This article was written because he (the university?) got a patent and is running a trial at a water treatment plant now, and they're hoping to commercialize it in about three years if all goes well.
